It all started when.....

When a college instructor was trying to teach students how RGB LED tape worked, they wanted to show how the different colors could mix together. They did not want to have to get out a DMX decoder and the light board just for this demonstration. So they made a simple manual controller. The manual controller got used every time someone said "We should put LEDs in that prop/scenic element/costume". During a production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, over 160 feet (48.8 meters) of LED tape cut into dozens of pieces were being used inside a tree. The Lighting and Sound Supervisor suggested using the manual controller to test all of the LED tape pieces before being installed in the tree.
